Court to hear case against Google on Oct 16, can slap second fine

MOSCOW, Oct 12 (PRIME) – A magistrate of Moscow’s Tagansky District Court will consider on October 16 a report that can make Google the first foreign company to face a second fine in Russia for a repeated refusal to localize personal data of its users in the country, a court representative told PRIME on Thursday.

Google was fined 15 million rubles in mid-2022.

The court will hear similar reports against recruiting service Freelancer International and Ookla, which owns Internet speed tracker Speedtest, on October 16.

The maximum fine stands at 18 million rubles.
